Bryce Canyon ~ Day 2

Some More Hiking

Well, not exactly hiking, more like sight seeing as we walked along a trail. We took the shuttle to Bryce Point and then walked the Rim Trail to Inspiration Point. The Rim Trail goes for 5 1/2 miles one way and extends from Fairyland Point to Bryce Point, connecting all the main stops and trailheads along the way. We came across some friends from the climbing community back home as we were approaching Inspiration Point. What a great surprise to see Pete & Sharon! We stopped and caught up a bit as it had been quite a long time since we had seen them. Covid has definitely impacted our social life.

And Then a Funny Thing Happened

As we were walking along, I spotted what appeared to be an outhouse about 1,4 mile away down in the amphitheater. It seemed odd to see an outhouse down there because we had not seen any outhouses on any of the trails we have been on. I have a 400mm lens on one of my cameras, so I was looking through the lens to get a better view of the structure when a young lady proceeded to walk into my field of view and dropped her pants to relieve herself. We had a pretty good laugh about that! Anyway, apparently if it was an outhouse, it was not open.

Anyway…

The Rim Trail was much more interesting than we were expecting with more fantastic views of Bryce Canyon looking down on what is called “The Amphitheater.” When we got to Inspiration Point, we took the shuttle down to Bryce Lodge to see what we coud find out about the horseback rides that are available. You can choose a 1 1/2 hour ride or a 3 hour ride. We were pretty much ignored at the corral, but learned from a sign there that no backpacks or water bottles are allowed. That pretty much ended our interest in participating in that.

A Bit More Walking

From Bryce Lodge, we intended to hop on the shuttle again. The shuttle was full so we decided to just waok the Rim Trail to Sunrise Point where there is a general store. We stopped at the general store and did not find what we were looking for so we then got on the shuttle and returned to our trailer.
