Bend/Sunriver RV Campground
Thousand Trails
Our stay at the Bend/Sunriver RV Campground, which is part of Thousand Trails was ok, but not spectacular, as we typically experience at Thousand Trails facilities. Check-in went smoothly with the exception that the young lady at the check-in station told us that all the 50 amp sites were full hookup, which we later found out was not accurate. It turns out that there are no sewer hookups in this campground at all.
We found a site with no issues. Typically, as Thousand Trails are first come – first serve, it can be a chore to find a spot, but we found a great site right away. We got all hooked up, including what we thought was sewer hookup, and had time to explore Bend a bit.
This park has a nice woodsy feel to it and is very quiet. The sites are large and spaced out nicely giving a more private feel than you get in many rv parks. This is more like camping in the woods than we usually see. We even had a pet bunny that we discovered in the shade under the trailer
A couple of days after we arrived I went to drain the grey water and discovered that what we thought was sewer hookup was in fact a water turnoff access pipe. Fortunately it was only grey water and I was able to get it stopped right away so it was not too big of an issue.
As we find in most Thousand Trails facilities, there is much needed maintenance. The pool facilities were not working and the laundry center was out of order.
Our first impression was, typical Thousand Trails but perhaps we could visit here for a longer visit at some point to have more time for all the recreational opportunities in the area. Unfortunately this campground is not a viable option for an extended stay with the lack of sewer connection.
